I need some advice
I don't know if it's age( I'm only 31) , pms, or pre-menapause. Anyway I am always tired and I feel like I have no energy. Someone told me about wheatgrass. Does anyone know about it? Or anything else like it? I just can't stand feeling this way. When I exercise I'm tired. I fall asleep as soon as I hit my pillow, but during the night I get hot and wake up all the time. I literally have to have my fan on very high so I don't get hot and so I at least sleep somewhat better. I still am tired even if I do get sleep. Right now I am dealing with allergies, but it is like this constantly( the tired part). I was perscribed an anxiety pill to help with pms, but guess what? It makes me so tired. I finally quite taking it. My sex drive is down the hole (don't mean to get personal). I have asked for hormon level checks and I always get the same look. No one seems to want to do it. This has been going on for sometime. I feel like my kids think I just don't want to do anything, husband too, but it is so hard when you are tired and feel like you're in the clouds. I'm fed up with taking perscriptions. This last one I was taking said may cause drowiness and can decrease sex drive. I need something that will increase and not make me tireder. The doc told me that it would help with all my pms. It did help me sleep good at night, but I could barely wake up after taking it. Now after I was on it, I stayed awake longer, but still it was hard to wake up. Oh and another thing it said, was may cause moodiness. I was trying help that too!! I am tired of doctors, no offense to anyone, but they are so quick to give a perscription then to really listen to your problem, at least the ones I have been around in the past few years. Why???? Anyway, thanks for listening, if anyone has any ideas for me I am up for it.

Our kitty Neela races me to the bedroom to get her belly rubbed. This a routine thing for her and she will softly make a noise until she gets her belly rubbed. It's quite funny.

Hey Lady!! Coming from one with her own hormone problems I recommend the book The Wisdom of Menopause by Christiane Northrop. It sounds like your hormones are messed up and even though you probably have a long time until menopause this book is a wealth of information about what hormones to check and that kind of thing.
Congrats on the new calling- working with the youth is great although I would much rather be a counselor!! And I can't wait to see pics of the house- 3 acres- I'm so jealous:)
As for the doctors you just need to keep trying and go in with a list of tests you would like- it's hard in the military but it can be done!
Hope you feel better!
I don't have all your symptoms, but almost all. I haven't been to a doctor. I went in for a pap after 4 years finally and asked the doc and he really didn't seem to care much. It is frustrating when you go for help and all they do is blow you off! Sometimes my mood swings are so uncontrolable and I have no idea where it comes from! I thought some of it was working full time the past few months. Really since January I have been at the school 35+ hours a week! Now that it is summer it's still the same! I still make myself run and excersise everyday even if I am tired. I know drinking more water helps. A lot of times when we think we are hungry our body is actually needing water. I went through a 6 week nutrtion course with Tyler and learned some good things, but even changing eating habits didn't seem to help. I do know menopause has symptoms that start earlier than most women expect them so I am going to check out that book! Hang in there! You aren't alone!
Thank you!! That really helps. I will check out that book. I'm not going to give trying to figure this. I haven't tried the docs at this new base, but maybe they'll be more helpful. I just need to get an appointment and just tell them, make them give me what I want. When I was here with Brian. We were watching Dr. Phil and his wife was talking about hormones. It was that episode that had me thinking. I have all the symptoms, mood swings, hot flashes at night, lack of interest in intimacy, and fatigue, and I'm sure I wrote down more. Anyway I had it all planned out and wrote everything down. I was ready to tell the doc my whole list. Before I went in there, I did some research on PMS. Well they have the same type symptoms as pre-menapause. So I went in more focused on PMS. I have severe back cramps, the backs of my thighs are in such pain. Anyway I just told him about feeling like I am losing it and not in control of my emotions. As I was talking he just wrote me up a perscription and handed it too and that was it. He didn't tell me what they were, he just said take these everynight and when you need them. I did some research on it and it is for pms if anxiety is the main thing. Well I really don't think so. I do get anxious, but it's more so when I have something on my mind. Like when I got called as YW president, but I got over it and am fine. I didn't need the meds to fix that problem, just needed to get over that shocking news, ha, ha. Well I am going to go this time and tell them exactly what is going on and ifthey start writing up a perscription before I am done talking, I am just going to ask them to wait until I am done talking before they start assumming what is wrong. Thank you again for your encouragement.
Yeah Marie I know exactly what you mean. It feels like someone else is taking control of your body and you can't stop it. I have had to explain to Brian that this is out of my hands. It is so very hard to control these moods and to not be tired. I do better at exercising at night. Since I get tired from exercising I sleep pretty good at night. It seems that when I have energy, but exercising at night definitly does not keep me awake.
I hate feeling so tired and not having enough energy to get things done. I went in one time and told the doctor and she said "you have four small kids your suppose to be tired, are you going to have more?" I wanted to hit her. She prescribed me birth control pills to get my hormones in check and such. I hate taking a pill everyday though, so I did not get it filled. I saw on Oprah that tiredness could also be related to a thyroid problem, I would put that on your list of things to make them check. I am not very good at making doctors listen to me, so another thing they suggested on Oprah was to get an advocate who will fight for you. It could be Brian, or an outspoken friend, mine is my sister. You really lets people know what she is thinking. They also suggested to never go to an appointment alone, that way you have a second person to ask questions and to help you remember everything. Good luck. I have also started working out to try and help with my anger issues.
I'll have Brian go with me so that way can make sure I don't forget to say anything. I'm like you Jennifer, I want be forceful enough, but I am getting tired of the run arounds so I might be better this time. I know in the past mu thyroids have always been good, but you never know. There are many possbilities. Thanks again for all the imput and advice
Jennifer that was very ruid of that lady. I would have wanted to shove something right where the sun doesn't shine.
I think everyone has had a bad experience with a doctor sometime or another...
Have you tried Melatonin? It's a natural sleep aid that doesn't leave you feeling tired in the morning, or unable to function. You can just purchase it at the regular store in the vitamin section.
You can start having menopause symptoms as early as 25 (according to Nick who just finished up his woman's health rotation for his NP)
I agree you need someone to go with you and talk to the Provider if you're not being listened to.
Good luck. Keep us informed.
Charity
BTW...congratulations on your calling! You'll be great!
Thanks Charity,
I'll have to try it. I had read that menopause could happen to women that early.
Thank you for the support.
hey, i just saw your blog and i had to comment because i went through the EXACT same thing your describing about 3 or 4 months ago. When ever I was at home with the kids, I couldn't even sit down on the couch to read them a story without falling asleep. I was so grumpy all the time and I didn't clean or wanna play with them or anything. My sex drive was crap too! and I didn't sleep well at night because (i assumed) I had been so lazy during the day that I didn't need sleep. I went to the dr. and had them check my blood count (for anemia) and also check my thyroid levels (hypo thyroidism has some of those symptoms too). everything came back normal but i was glad i checked it out and new for sure. so then i went to the store and got St. John's Wort (mood support) and Korean Ginseng (energy support) and got on a multi-vitamin (GNC Ultra Mega Woman Active) and I'm a totally different person now. I'm not taking the Korean Ginseng anymore but I do still take the other. So, you may wanna try something like that. I'm only 26 and there's no way whatsoever I'm going through menopause! :) anyway i hope this helps and if you need anything let me know! my email is windyklawitter@gmail.com
Thank you Windy!! I have seen those vitamins. I'll have to check out the other stuff too. I have had my thyroids checks before and teverything always came out normal. I did start a vitamin. It's Natures Own I think. Anyway I'm wondering if it has helped because I don't seem as tired. It does have iron and I am wondering if my iron is low. As for the sex drive I still need help with that. I guess I just need to make myslef be in the mood and maybe it will come back.
So sorry!! I hope things get better soon!! :)
Marquita! I am posting really late!! I am slowing catching up with all my friends blogs for the last few months... perhaps you have solved your mystery by now??? I always suggest turning to health food...fresh fruits and veggies with as little processed food as possible... I am better at different times in my life, but when i do follow it more regimented... MY LIFE IS DIFFERENT!! Joe prefers i stick with it for my poor modiness sake!! 8-) I haven't read the rest of your blog but plan to this evening of all the great things i have missed... speaking of missed... we miss you back here!=(
